Each week, the Explorer visits dive sites ranging from 6 to 40 metres deep. She is a 22 metre steel hulled catamaran, designed for comfort, endless diving and long range expeditions. This spacious vessell accommodates only 18 guests in two double, one twin and 3 quad share cabins, each with air conditioning, portholes or windows and private facilities. All bed linen is provided including bath and deck towels.

DIVE DECK ~ The spacious dive deck is equipped with individual gear lockers, camera table, 240v recharging station, air filling station, tank racks and a separate freshwater rinse bath for dive equipment and cameras, as well as a wet suit hanging area and freshwater shower. Steps lead down to the dive platforms themselves, where two in-water ladders hang for easy access to and from the water. The vessel carries emergency medical supplies, oxygen, ship to shore radio and satellite telephone.

ABOARD ~ An entertainment centre with TV, CD/ video library, large air-conditioned salon, spacious bow and sun deck ensure the guests maximum comfort Meals are varied and plentiful- hearty breakfasts, between dive snacks, buffet or hot lunches and full sit down dinners are the daily fare. A selection of beverages is always on hand and can be purchased onboard. CREW ~ The Nimrod Explorer carries 6 crew including the Captain, Engineer, two Dive Instructors, Chef and Host/Hostess. All dive staff members are trained by the certifying agencies in the most current emergency medical procedures as well as in-water rescue techniques.

EQUIPMENT ~  Tanks, weights and weight belts are supplied. Most dive equipment, including regulators, BC's, dive computers, and dive lights are available for rent onboard NITROX ~ Nitrox diving has many advantages: absortion of less nitrogen in the blood stream and body tissues, reduced risk of decompression illness, and less post dive fatigue. Ask about doing your Nitrox Course on board your trip.... all you need is 20 logged dives.

OSPREY REEF & CORAL SEA: Known for its large pelagic species and excellent visability, Australia's Coral Sea is a pristine area that delivers big shark action, sheer walls and spectacular soft corals. HOLMES REEF: Offered from January through to April, the Holmes Reef system, which rises out of 1000 metres of sea water, becomes a focal point for life in the Coral Sea attracting large predators such as sharks, barracuda, manta rays and schooling fish. Drift in crystal clear waters, along a 700 sheer wall of the Abyss. LOCKHART TO RAINE: the most isolated diving available on he Great Barrier Reef.
